Configuring State/Province

States & Provinces are configured in Setup / Regional Settings / Countries / Country

Overview

Countries and states can be configured on this screen. Once setup, they will be available when configuring addresses on account contacts and companies.

Prerequisites

Countries and states can be setup immediately, there are no prerequisite configuration steps.

Countries List Panel

The Countries List panel on the left of this screen allows you to view and select existing countries and states that have been setup. After selecting a state you will be able to edit state settings. Actions are also available in this panel which are shown as icons above the Filter text box. The available actions are described below.

Description

Expands or collapses the list of countries and states

Edit State Panel

The information in this panel reflects the currently selected state. From here you can change state details (fields will display a red left border if a value is required and purple text if the field is read-only and cannot be modified).

Edit State Fields:

  • Name: the name of the state/province

  • Abbreviation: the abbreviation used to reference the state


Editing States

  1. Under the List of Countries heading expand the country to reveal the list of states under it

  2. Click on the state that you wish to edit and follow the help content for that section


Deleting States

Note: States that are in use (configured on companies or account contacts) cannot be deleted.

  1. Under the Country List heading click the name of the country which contains the state you wish to delete

  2. Under the Edit Country panel within the States tab click the (emoji) icon next to the state you wish to delete and then click the (emoji) icon to mark the state for deletion

  3. Click the Save button to commit the changes and delete the state
