How does advance billing work in EngageIP?

There are two types of advance billing in EngageIP, one allows you to bill out a prorated value for a service newly added and its full next month fee on the same invoice. This option is on services and is described in KB article #329.

The second advance billing type is where you want to invoice customers 10 days in advance of their billing date so that they receive their invoice prior to their service period starting. This type is described in KB article #361 and is set on the customers bill group.

Mass Updating of Next Bill Dates

As of the latest release (8.2.7.5) you now have the option to update next bill dates across multiple sub accounts from the parent account. This option is on the tools tab and allows you to select the accounts and next bill dates you wish to update and bulk edit them. This is a great option when you have more than 5 or 10 sub accounts that you need to adjust bill dates on. See KB article #464 for more information

Role Security – Have you updated / reviewed yours lately?

It is recommended that you regularly perform security audits on EngageIP and your network surrounding EngageIP. You should have a scheduled plan in place to review these, whether it be monthly or even weekly. To ensure that your EngageIP is secure, please review your role security configuration. Role security is outlined in KB article #276 and some example configuration on how to handle employee turn over is located in KB article #429

Price Plan – Automation of Price Overrides

Price Plans allow you to apply price overrides across multiple accounts without the need to go to each individual account and package to apply a discount. For detail on this, please see KB article #465

BroadSoft M6 Alert – Daylight Savings Time Could Overwrite Usage Files

Monday, March 8th, 2010

ON March 5th Broadsoft issued alert M6-20100305

It describes an issue with Daylight Savings Time that could overwrite a days worth of CDR

According to the alert the following will occur:

At 00:00:00 on March 14th the standard file will be written
/usr/voiss/System/CDRFile03132010.frf   — contains CDR data for Mar. 13th

At 00:00 on March 15th a file with the same name will be written with CDR from the 14th
/usr/voiss/System/CDRFile03132010.frf   — contains CDR data for Mar. 14th

Although it doesn’t state this in the alert we would assume the next day is back to normal:

At 00:00:00 on March 16th the standard file will be written

/usr/voiss/System/CDRFile03152010.frf   — containing CDR data for Mar. 15th

Steps to take:

1) As described in the alert make sure to move the first file CDRFile03132010.frf to EngageIP sometime on March 14th.

2) For the second file, before moving the file over to EngageIP on the 15th, rename it from CDRFile03132010.frf to CDRFile03142010.frf (what it truly should be).

That should be all that is needed but it is best to  check on the naming of the file generated at 00:00:00 on Mar. 16th to make sure it is back to the standard naming convention.
