Bandwidth Control

Peer-to-peer file sharing is just one reason service providers and enterprises need bandwidth control. Unlike dial-up connectivity where the connecting device has a built in bandwidth limit, today's cable or DSL modems and wireless radios have LAN speed bandwidth capacity. This means that any one user can saturate an under sized connection.

In order to prevent saturation of the link bandwidth control is required. The LogiSense EngageIP Traffic Manager offers bandwidth control at the network and the user level.

Limiting bandwidth on the access hardware addresses bandwidth consumption at the network level but it does not facilitate dynamic bandwidth control at the user level. EngageIP Traffic Manager offers a simple web interface for network level control and integrates with EngageIP Billing for user level bandwidth management.

In addition to overall bandwidth limiting, Traffic Manager provides additional bandwidth control at the port or application level. EngageIP Traffic Manager allows the service provider to bandwidth limit port hopping applications at the network or user level.
